Winter and Christmas Activities and Events
There’s nothing better than a Christmas themed market or event to get you into the festive spirit – and sometimes some of those are on offer too. Here’s our round up of a few of the Christmassy things you might like to do before Christmas arrives.
Polar at Robin Hill – always good value for money and so pretty, with twinkling walkways, a huge festive marble arch, a treetop snowball fight with trampoline full of inflatable ‘snowballs’, family rides and Christmas crafting workshops. And, of course, Pippa and Pop the polar bears, cheeky dodos and the wonderful Fairy Queen from Robin Hill’s sister park, Blackgang Chine. From 4th to 23rd December, 5pm to 9pm. Head here to book.
Yarmouth have an ice rink coming to the square from December 11th to 22nd, in an outdoor Christmas themed marquee with music, lights and snow! All weather skating on the latest technology synthetic ice, with free skate hire included in the price. They also have late night opening on December 18th and 22nd, so you can pick up some quality Christmas gifts in the unique boutique shops of Yarmouth’s quirky streets and alleyways. The Donkey Sanctuary in Wroxall have a Winter Market on Sunday the 21st November and Sunday 5th December, with plenty of stalls selling a variety of Christmas gift items. There will be lots of Christmas themed things going on around the sanctuary, where you can meet loads of different donkeys and even adopt one if you wish. Ventnor Botanic Garden will be filled with dashing Santas on 12th December, running around the garden in aid of Mountbatten, and you can join the throng. The Santa Dash is a 5km route around Ventnor Botanic Garden that everyone can try, with a free Santa suit and medal for each contestant, and you don’t have to run, you can jog or walk. Ventnor Botanic Garden will also have a free entry Christmas Village, which will be visited by some of your festive favourites, including Santa, Anna and Kristoff from Frozen, and live music from Sunny and Blue of Lucid. Plus there will be stalls for you to pick up a few stocking fillers while enjoying a mince pie and a cup of mulled wine. Details are here.

Tapnell’s award-winning Christmas event returns for 2021 with new characters and adventures to discover within their Christmas wonderland, including Father Christmas, on 3rd to 5th, 9th to 12th, 16 to 18th and the 21st to 23rd December.
