People choose the Isle of Wight as their holiday destination for a number of different reasons and it is fair to say that it is undeniably a brilliant place to visit all year round. One of the best things about the Isle of Wight is that it is a suitable location for any budget and no matter how much you have set aside for your holiday, you will still have an amazing time on the Island and a holiday to remember.

When planning a trip to the Island with a big group of friends and/or family members, if you’re looking for Isle of Wight accommodation that won’t break the bank, thankfully you will have a number of brilliant options. From campsites to holiday homes, there are lots of budget-friendly group accommodations in great locations, and there is even a selection of hostels to say in too. To help anyone who is searching for affordable Isle of Wight accommodation, below are some of the best hostels to look at.

ALLNATT Stop & Stay hostel

You will find Stop & Stay’s East Dene hostel in Bonchurch near Ventnor and it is actually the former home of the Victorian poet Algernon Swinburne. East Dene is surrounded by woodlands and the beach is only a short walk away too. This hostel has a vast range of different bedrooms ranging from single rooms to bunk bedded dormitory rooms that sleep 12.

It is worth noting that the minimum number you can book this hostel for is 10, but it is a brilliant option for group getaways. You can also hire the whole of East Dene if you’re wanting exclusive use and this may be worth looking into depending on how many you’re booking for.

YHA hostels

There are two YHA hostels on the Isle of Wight, one in Brighstone and one in Totland.

The Brighstone hostel sleeps 14 people, so it is smaller than other hostels, and it has 4 different bedrooms with varying numbers of beds. It is situated in a perfect location for walking and cycling, and it is only 1 mile from the beach and the chalk downs too. This YHA hostel is only available to book during the school summer holidays, July and August, but there is no denying that summer is a brilliant time to book a holiday to the Island.

The Totland hostel is a bit bigger, it sleeps 48 people and again, has a selection of different sized bedrooms. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this hostel is in a brilliant location and is within walking distance of a number of tourist attractions including Alum Bay. This hostel is also available for hire on an exclusive basis and it is an incredibly affordable option to consider.

YMCA hostel

YMCA has a hostel called Winchester House which is located on the clifftop between the seaside towns of Shanklin and Sandown. This is a brilliant base if you’re wanting to explore the Island, especially it’s best beaches, and it sleeps up to 120 people with single, twin and bunk bedrooms available.

Unlike other hostels, Winchester House has full board, half board and bed and breakfast options to choose from, it is also open all year round. Commonly this hostel is hired by youth groups and schools, but you can contact them for adult only group bookings.

UKSA hostel

This hostel is situated on the waterfront in the world-famous sailing town of Cowes. If you’re wanting an activity holiday then this is the perfect place for you, UKSA has a number of brilliant facilities and they even offer a selection of watersports and sailing facilities too. The hostel sleeps up to 270 people and again, has lots of different bedroom sizes.

They offer Isle of Wight accommodation to groups of adults and you can tailor your stay depending on what you’re wanting to do during your visit. With picturesque views over the River Medina, it is a brilliant hostel to book.
