The Best Family Dining Experiences On The Isle Of Wight

When booking a family holiday in the UK, the Isle of Wight is by far one of the most popular destinations and every year, families from all over will spend a week or two exploring the island. Often, when visiting the Isle of Wight, many of these families will choose to book self-catering accommodation and it gives them the freedom to do as they please at mealtimes, without the constraints of set time frames and menus.

When opting for this type of accommodation, in order to be prepared, many parents will search for local eating establishments in advance and it goes without saying that this can take a lot of pressure off when you have lots of hungry mouths to feed. So, to help anyone who is planning a visit to the Isle of Wight, we have looked into the best family dining experiences throughout the island to save you from having to do so.

Hare and Hounds near Newport

This beautiful thatched pub is everything you’d expect from a traditional style British pub and their menu doesn’t disappoint. The Hare and Hounds is known for being family friendly and they even have an outdoor play area which you can guarantee will go down well with your children. This is also a dog-friendly pub too, so the whole family can come along for some food.

The Cow at Tapnell Farm

If you’re little ones like burgers then The Cow at Tapnell Farm is definitely somewhere you should go, it is renowned for its award-winning burgers. Not only do they have a number of delicious burgers on their menu, but they also have the finest local ice creams too, so it really is the perfect place to eat when you visit the Isle of Wight with children.

The Waterfront Inn on Shanklin’s Esplanade

Situated a stone’s throw away from the popular sandy beach, this is the perfect place to stop for some food if you have been exploring Shanklin for the day. The Waterfront Inn has a brilliant kids menu that features all the classics like pizza, chicken nuggets, fish fingers and spaghetti bolognese, so it is likely that your children will easily be able to find something they like.

The Eight Bells on the High street in Carisbrooke

You will find The Eight Bells not far from Newport and it is a brilliant choice for families visiting the Isle of Wight. Again, this is a more traditional pub with both indoor and outdoor seating and your children will be happy to know that there is a play area here as well. They even offer free colouring sheets and free squash drinks with all children’s main meals purchased too.

The Lifeboat overlooking East Cowes Marina

For a picturesque lunch time meal in the summer, there really is no better place to go than The Lifeboat and their under 12s menu makes dining with the family enjoyable for everyone. You can sit on their large outside decking area and watch the boats come and go in the marina and the Medina River, so no one will get bored whilst you’re eating.

The Fighting Cocks in Arreton

This is another great place to eat if you’re looking for ‘pub grub’ and The Fighting Cocks has a brilliant menu featuring all of your comfort food classics at really reasonable prices. This award-winning pub has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and again, there is a large outdoor play area for your children with nearby outdoor tables so it’s easy to keep an eye on them.
