Isle of Wight Staycations Expected This Summer
More good news for Isle of Wight tourism this week, as we’re coming up prominently in searches on holiday websites.
Searches for holiday destinations have shot up since the government published the proposed steps out of lockdown, with many people favouring a ‘staycation’ rather than attempting to travel abroad this summer.
Devon-based holiday company Cofton Holidays found that the island featured fifth on their list of most searched holiday destinations, with southerners in cities like Brighton and Southampton being most tempted by an Island-break. Interestingly, and perhaps not surprisingly, no cities made the list of top locations searched for breaks this summer.
Website Vrbo (formerly HomeAway) also reports surges in searches for Island holidays. In their list of most searched UK destinations, the Isle of Wight is at number ten.
Specialists in family holidays, Vrbo surveyed more than 7,000 parents and found that beaches are top of the wish list, and that the Isle of Wight was one of the top ten destinations to find them.
