I am grateful to Sally Chaucer for talking to me about Calbourne Water Mill. In the conversation Sally explains about the history and geology of the site, the longevity of the location for the mill and why it is the only working water mill on the island! Sally has dedicated herself to the mill and with the accommodation, cafe and as a working venue, Sally is keeping the history alive and the mill working! It is well worth a visit when you are on the island or if you live on the island! The flours milled there are available all over the island and I recommend them! Sally also chose some great songs that have meaning for her!
