Now I have lived on the Island for forty years and one of my favourite towns has to be Yarmouth in the west. It is exceptionally pretty at any time of year, but June and July are the best months in my opinion, because boats and yachts are venturing out on to the water from the Solent ports and heading for the town’s harbour.
Well, every two years there is a festival to celebrate the “Gaff” rigging of sailing boats galled the Yarmouth Old Gaffers and I have never been to see it. Well this weekend I ventured over there with my camera to see the sceptical and was not disappointed.
