They are so much more than just a Sports Centre and now manage the adjoining Youth and Community Centre as well as Jubilee Playing Field. They can provide rooms and facilities for meetings, parties, training and conferences and regularly host a variety of groups and sessions to support people in the community including but not limited to Our Place, Diabetes group IOW, Parkinson’s Disease 10 week course of exercise and Heart Care Club.

Grant funded projects allow them to work with all sectors of the community including young people, those on low incomes and those with long term health conditions.

West Wight Sports and Community Centre are proud to be able to offer both sports and community events in the beautiful West Wight.  Their exciting programme of events gives opportunities for personal challenge and high level competitive sport. They welcome competitors from across the country and beyond!

FITNESS

Fitness is what they are about at the West Wight Sports and Community Centre, while have something for every age, and every level from budding national sportsmen and women to gentle exercises for the immobile, and of course they have everything in between!

Being fit means much more than just physical exercise – they have activities and classes that will improve your mental, social, and emotional health and taking part in activities at West Wight Sports and Community Centre means you will be at the heart of the vibrant West Wight community.

SWIMMING

The main pool measures 25 metres in length, by 13 metres wide (which is the standard size for most public pools). The difference being that ours is 3 metres deep, meaning that they are not only the deepest pool on the Island, but the only one with two diving board facilities!

The shallow end is just 1 metre deep, with full disabled persons’ access (with stairs and a hoist, which can take a wheelchair for lowering and raising people into and out of the pool). It is a perfect place to train, or just have a relaxing swim with a friend and catch up on what’s happening.

The small pool is ideal for young children and beginner swimmers and is also used for hydrotherapy. It is 0.8 metres deep all over, and measures 12 metres by 4.75 metres. Again, it offers full access for all abilities, with steps and a hoist for the less-abled people. There are toys for the younger children to play with, which encourages development in the water.

They have a variety of swimming sessions, from the fun hours, to the more organised sessions; including lane swimming, public swimming, swimming lessons, canoeing, aqua aerobics and much more.

Both swimming pools are available for private hire, and come with trained lifeguards. So, whether you want to hold a party, swimming gala, training camp, sub-aqua group or anything else, you can contact them for details.

West Wight Sports and Community Centre is open every day of the week for a wide variety of exercise classes and water based activities throughout term time and the holidays.
