Gurnard Beach, Cowes, Isle of Wight

Gurnard Beach is a quaint pebble and shingle beach, just a short distance from the main town of Cowes on the north of the Isle of Wight, with stunning views across the Solent, and some of the best sunsets you are likely to see. It is a particularly good location to watch the liners and large ships entering Southampton Water. Popular with local families and holidaymakers alike with excellent facilities for such a small beach. Great fun can be hand in the water when the ships pass causing large waves on the beach however it is important to keep an eye on children and those who are not strong swimmers.

There is also a large sloping green and children’s play area located by the beach and a cafe and a pub/restaurant only a short walk from the sea. You will also find here Gurnard Sailing Club where you can become a visiting member for the summer months. Sailing and water sports are popular pastimes at this beach. There is parking along the seafront towards Cowes as well as a small car park at the beach. It is also possible to reach Gurnard beach from Cowes by walking along the Esplanade Gurnard Beach currently holds a Seaside Award. Dogs:  There are restrictions in place on the Isle of Wight’s main resort beaches between 1st May and 30th September which prevents dogs being allowed to use them.
