Visit Butterfly World today to see hundreds of butterflies flying freely in a natural environment! One of the Island’s leading tourist attractions, you have the opportunity to learn more about our butterflies, visit the Italian & Japanese gardens, koi ponds, fountains, jumping jets, cafe, Medina garden centre and more! Whether you’re here for the day or a flying visit there is plenty to see and do – and it’s all under cover! A visit provides the opportunity to see hundreds of butterflies flying freely in a natural environment. Visitors have the unique opportunity to study the egg-caterpillar-chrysalis-imago life cycle first hand.

Many information boards are displayed and illustrated signs identify the popular species and their country of origin. The emerging cages provide the chance to see around 20 adult butterflies being born each day as they emerge from their chrysalis. We also have exotic finches flying freely and Chinese Painted Quail wandering around eating uninvited insects! The Hungry Caterpillar & Gift Shop is their large gift shop and offers a wide range of gifts, many with a butterfly theme. Postcards, posters, mounted and framed butterflies; pictures, stationery, china, mobiles, jigsaws, tea towels, scarves, jewellery, pens and key rings are among the items stocked. The Hungry Caterpillar Coffee Shop takes 100 visitors under cover and 54 outside. It offers teas, snacks, light meals, cream teas and ice cream.
