Five great dog-friendly beaches on the Isle of Wight

A long sandy stretch near Sandown with lots of space for dogs to roam.

Dogs are welcome all year round on the section between the sailing club and Culver Down.

Good choice if you want a relaxed beach day with your dog and some scenic views.

Located on the east side of the Island. The beach has pebbles, shells and some sandbanks at low tide — plenty for a dog to explore.

On the southwest coast, more remote and less crowded. Great for adventurous walks with your dog.

On the northwest side of the Island. Nice views across to the mainland and fairly gentle terrain.

Dogs are allowed in the section from the right of the slipway at Colwell Chine to Brambles Chine, though other parts may have seasonal restrictions.

Good option for a dog walk plus a scenic break.

Famous for its colourful sands and dramatic views at the west tip of the Island.

Dogs are allowed on leads all year round.

Because it’s a busy attraction, a leash helps ensure safety for all.
