First Look at The Jolly Robin – The New Attraction Swinging into Blackgang Chine in 2024
Today Blackgang Chine has revealed the name and concept artwork of their newest ride; The Jolly Robin.
This is of course a nod to the ride itself being Colossus from Robin Hill which is currently under offer. However, it will be a completely new experience for riders as the ship is undergoing complete refurbishment, repaint, and retheme to fit seamlessly into Pirate Cove at Blackgang Chine.
The concept artwork shows significant expansion to the area, which is now heavily themed to tie into the backstory of the boat; a chilling tale of a ghostly whaling ship, sunk by a giant whale during a ferocious blow, now doomed to sail the oceans in an eternal storm.
With breathtaking views of the surrounding seascape at its peak, “The Jolly Robin” is another example of Blackgang Chine doing what it does best and playing to its natural surroundings to give an unforgettable experience.
Park Manager Dan White said, “We know how much Robin Hill fans loved this ride, even more so when we saw the reaction to the pictures of it leaving the island, so we are thrilled to be bringing it back as The Jolly Robin to Blackgang Chine. It’s undergoing a huge refurbishment and make over, as is the area in which its going, and we hope that everyone will come and ride at Blackgang this year”.
Blackgang Chine are unable to confirm an exact open date for the ride yet, but have confirmed “We are working tirelessly to get The Jolly Robin open as soon as possible. As with any outdoor project of this scale, mother nature has a knock on effect. We will let fans know as soon as we can confirm an open date – watch this space for a first rider competition!”
The Jolly Robin is the first of two new attractions confirmed this year, however details of the second attraction remain a mystery for now, only the promise of it being one the younger fans will love.
Blackgang Chine reopens for the season on 23rd March, and early bird Season Pass prices of just £49 remain in place until the 24th March. For more info on opening times and prices, please visit their website here.
