Experience the Magic of the Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival 2024

 

BRIGHSTONE, Isle of Wight – Get ready for the most Christmassy event of the year! The Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival returns from Thursday, 5th December to Sunday, 8th December 2024, promising an unforgettable celebration of festive fun and community spirit. Featuring over 150 gorgeously decorated Christmas trees across nine picturesque venues in and around Brighstone, Mottistone, and Calbourne, this festival is a firm favourite of Islanders and visitors alike. Venues open 10am until 5pm, unless stated otherwise.

 

Special Opening Service
Kick off the festive season with the Lights of Love service on Wednesday, 4th December, at St Mary’s Church in Brighstone. This moving event, held in aid of Mountbatten Hospice, will set the tone for the fundraising magic that follows.

 

Festival Highlights:

  • St Mary’s Church: Marvel at the magnificent Advent mosaic created by community members. There will be storytelling, musical talents of choirs and concerts throughout the weekend. Trees on display until twelfth night.
  • Brighstone Methodist Church: Enjoy tree displays alongside refreshments throughout the festival. Trees on display until twelfth night.
  • The Wilberforce Hall: Stop by for savoury treats from Tandem Cafe on Thursday, charity stalls by Vectis Corps and Brighstone Library, and weekend face painting fun with Team Unicorn. Be sure to grab this year’s exclusive festival decoration, crafted in collaboration with local artist Jacqui Squires and Gordy’s Wood, raising funds for Mountbatten Hospice and other charities.
  • Brighstone Social Club: A full schedule of live performances, featuring local favourites like the Boogie Woogie Sisters, Wight Ukers, 2gether in Harmony, The Brighstone Barnacles, and Raw Samba.
  • Brighstone Library: Don’t miss the mini children’s Christmas tree competition.
  • Mottistone Church: Experience a brand-new “Wild” Nature-themed display with captivating illuminated animal lantern walkway on display outside, created with support from the New Carnival Company and local schools. Enjoy a series of engaging wildlife talks throughout the festival.
  • All Saints Church, Calbourne: A tranquil venue, with a heavenly “Choir of Angels” display. Trees on display until twelfth night.
  • The Three Bishops Pub: Entertainment all weekend long to soak up the festive atmosphere. Trees on display throughout December.
  • Isle of Wight Pearl: Open throughout December from 10am to 3pm.

 

Festive Events and Activities:

  • Craft Market: Discover unique handmade gifts and enjoy refreshments at the Scout Hall from Friday to Sunday (10am-5pm).
  • Festive Charity Tractor Drive: Join the excitement on Saturday 7th December, as Vectis Vintage Tractor & Engine Club raise funds for Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group, starting at 3.30pm from the Isle of Wight Pearl, taking in all venues and finishing at the Three Bishops Pub at 5.30pm with a snow-filled celebration and disco at The Three Bishops carpark courtesy of Soundwaves Entertainment.
  • Santa visits, live music and Morris Dancing: Fun for the entire family.
  • Children’s Passport Competition: Young explorers can collect stamps to win an exciting prize.
  • Raffle, Stalls, and More: Opportunities to support local causes and win fabulous prizes.

 

 

“This festival is a true showcase of the community spirit that makes our Island so special,” said the festival’s organisers, Emily Waters and Diane Woodhouse who took over the event two years ago. “We’re incredibly grateful for the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of visitors, local businesses, and everyone who supports our fundraising efforts. We can’t wait to welcome everyone for a magical weekend of festive fun.”

 

Practical Information:

  • Free Park & Ride: Available on Saturday and Sunday to make your visit hassle-free.
  • Free Entry: While the event is free to attend, it is run entirely by volunteers and funded through donations. Your generosity helps raise funds for local charities and ensures the festival’s future.
