At The Essex, we rate atmosphere, service, food and choice as equals when it comes to importance.
You will always be greeted with a warm hello and offered a table to suit. It is indeed a family-run restaurant, which is evident from the relaxed atmosphere and fluid chat of the staff with customers. Twenty years of experience has allowed the owner, Teri, who is on site most days and nights, to deliver an experience which will not only fulfil your taste buds but will leave you planning your next visit before you’ve left the building.
The days and weeknights are more casual offering clean whitewashed wooden tables with simple fresh flowers and white crockery. Whereas the Friday and Saturday evenings are a more formal affair. White linen tablecloths adorn all tables along with linen napkins, sparkles and an atmospheric candle. Full cutlery is laid out as well as wine glasses for that extra luxurious feel. We want you to have the wow factor, whether it’s our popular seared seabass on order or our local fillet steak, which feature on the specials board.
Many of our customers return again and again to enjoy not only the food but also the personal service they receive. Attention to detail is everything to us, so remembering names of parties who have been before and knowing just how cold they like their wine gives us our edge over many other Island restaurants. We are lucky in Godshill to have some fine eateries close by which adds to the lure of the prettiest village around and offers the locals and holidaymakers a great choice throughout the year. Our attention to detail is what sets us apart from the rest and we aim to keep the standard high.
