For many years, the LGBT community of the Isle of Wight have kept a little secret hidden from the rest of the world. An idyllic retreat off the South Coast of England has become home to many LGBT individuals, couples, families and their children. Those who have moved away from the Island still hold fond memories of its diverse beautiful landscape.
Now, in it’s second year, the Island’s LGBT community is being recognised, celebrated and supported by the whole community, by hosting UK Pride in its second year. Situated on the stunning golden beaches of Ryde, IW Pride will include a colourful parade through the heart of the Victorian seaside town, information stalls, art opportunities for everyone to get involved with and a party on the beach. All the fun of a festival, whilst importantly raising awareness of the thriving LGBT community situated here and the vital contribution they make to the Island’s rich heritage.
