Sandown Bay has been a popular destination for tourists, who enjoy the welcome of the town, beautiful scenery and the gently sloping sandy beaches, which offer safe swimming for all the family.

A Bit on Sandown

Sandown is the sister resort to Shanklin. It sits in the centre of Sandown Bay with Shanklin to the south and Yaverland and Culver cliff of to the north, miles of golden sandy beaches gently sloping are ideal for safe family bathing and there is always lots of space Children can dig for fossils under the cliff at Yaverland Sandown beach has been awarded an E.U Blue Flag for quality so is ideal for families.

Take the cliff path and stroll to Culver where the view stretches over to Portsmouth over looking pretty Bembridge and Seaview The town is served by the railway, which connects to Wightlink Fast Cat service at the end of Ryde Pier allowing easy access to the mainland and London.

There is a busy High St, lots of restaurants, cafes, pubs and a nightclub. The kids will have fun on Browns Put and Pitch and the T.V. famous Tiger Island is based in Sandown or visit Dinosaur Isle Museum which has many exhibits from the island Sandown boasts an excellent 18-hole golf course. Sandown plays host to Wight Air extreme sports event featuring, skate boarding, kite-surfing, mountain biking and wind surfing and during the summer months there are also town Carnivals and regattas.
