| | 1 October - Hospice Go Yellow Day Island Wide - 2009 saw us launch our first ever “Hospice Go Yellow Day” to an enthusiastic and responsive audience on the Isle of Wight. People across the Island took up the challenge to raise funds in the most imaginative and fun ways possible and came up with some terrific results!
With the kind support of Southern Vectis and Isle of Wight Radio we managed to tour the Island and found some truly great fundraising going on. We had monkeys roaming around East Cowes handing out banana’s and collecting money, Yellow Ice Creams for donations, a money trail, balloon races, a nursery school teacher’s car being painted bright Yellow and loads more crazy stunts that helped raise over £15,000.
We want to make our second “Go Yellow Day” Bigger and Better than before, if you’d like to get involved in the fun then please just give Fundraising a call on (01983) 528989. http://www.iwhospice.org/events/hospice-go-yellow-day.aspx

| | 25 October to 31 October - CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH CARISBROOKE CASTLE’S GHOSTS CARISBROOKE CASTLE - - Guided Ghost Tours Monday 25 October – Halloween, Sunday 31 October

The pale face of a girl drowning in the castle well; transparent ladies noiselessly walking their dogs on gravel that doesn’t scrunch; loud footsteps approaching but belonging to no-one and doors slamming shut and locking themselves. These are just some of the inexplicable happenings at Carisbrooke Castle which visitors can find out about in a series of ghost tours running during half term week.
The castle’s long history stretching back over nine centuries has left a chilling imprint of spooky sightings and ghostly goings-on, which will be revealed by knowledgeable guides on tours taking in its haunted hotspots. Suitable for children - and brave adults - the tours last 40 minutes and will be running at 10.20am, 11.20am, 1.20pm and 2.20pm from Monday 25 to Sunday 31 October.
Carisbrooke Castle’s operational team love hearing new stories from visitors. ”There is always excited anticipation of extra spiritual activity around Halloween,” explained David Bailey, Visitor Operations Manager. “We already have a great catalogue of unexplained stories to tell, but we hope psychic conditions will be right for our ghostly residents during the tours, so that we can add some new ones to the mix.”
Normal admission prices apply of just £7.00 for adults and £6.00 for concessions and £3.50 for children. English Heritage members are admitted free. Carisbrooke Castle is on Castle Hill in Newport (PO30 1XY) and is open daily from 10am-5pm.
