Ticket Information: £15.00 to include interval refreshments. In aid of The British Heart Foundation.
The Lyric Trio - (Nette Robinson soprano, Tony Woods soprano and alto saxophone along with clarinet and Nikki Iles on the piano).
As many of you will know Michael Garrick played a gig in honour of Bill Evans at Wolverton about a year ago which was very special. Sadly and unexpectedly he died recently having surgery for severe ischaemic heart disease. He was an unrecognised giant in the world of modern Jazz but achieved deserved acclaim in the last few years. His loss is very much felt across all his family, friends and admirers.
He formed a close musical association with Nette Robinson. They had performed very successfully over recent years with him guiding her special talents and now she is a very much sort after soprano. He was sure she would reach great personal success.
Nette and I want to remember Michael’s visit to Wolverton and dedicate the funds to help with the illness which ended his life. wolvertonmanor.co.uk

30 June - JP Morgan Round the Island Race 2012 - The annual J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight, an island situated off the south coast of England. Competitors come from all over the UK, other parts of Europe and as far away as the USA to follow the 50 nautical mile course round the Isle of Wight. Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races westabout, to The Needles, round St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy, and back into the Solent to the finish line at Cowes.
Spectators can find many vantage points, both on the mainland and Isle of Wight, to watch the race progress. The first start in Cowes is at 7am but you can find more information about where the boats will be at different times during the day by clicking here. Those who cannot get to watch in person can keep an eye on the race’s progress on the website, via our live text commentary and our boat tracking facility.

18 August to 19 August - Isle of Wight Garlic Festival 2012 -
It's the Garlic Festival, it's in its 26th year, and it promises to be the best yet.
Firmly established among the top British food festivals, it is always a highlight of summer on the Isle of Wight and has been regularly singled out for praise in the national press and on TV.
Quite simply, it's foodie heaven, at its heart of course, is Britain’s biggest and best Garlic Marquee. STOP PRESS: The Garlic Farm just won GOLD at Hampton Court, for the SEVENTH successive year! So this year at the show we’ve extended the garlic marquee to be bigger than ever!
The largest under-cover festival on the Island (so we won't worry too much about the weather), its trademark is excellence in all things, not just GARLIC. Superlative acts, the very best of local produce, and high-quality arts and crafts. There's so much to see in our giant marquees, and our huge arena will feature a stunning programme of quality entertainment.
Particularly exciting is the return of The Vander's Wheel of Death, guaranteed to thrill and terrify in equal measure. There are clever animals. There's an escapologist. And when you've calmed down from all that, you can take a ride on our little railway. Toot toot!
Kids of all ages (that includes Mum and Dad, of course) will also love our children's entertainers, particularly our traditional Punch-and-Judy show. There’s Magic, circus skills, a climbing wall. And for those looking for a bit of adventure (but not too scary) there's the Island’s biggest annual fun fair.
Phew! Time for refreshment. Lots and lots of food stalls, a tea tent, of course, together with an ale tent and cider bar, making this the most festive of festivals. Look out for the cookery demo’s and tastings too!
And there are acts galore. A one-man band and a human jukebox (oh yes, we love variety) as well as top bands performing on our giant stage. They include Dodgy, whose 'Good Enough' remains a classic summer hit. Then there's Matchbox, the fabulous rockabilly '80s band, reprising their best and most popular numbers, along with Hello, whose 'Tell Him' is the ultimate in glam rock songs. And talking of glam, we have well respected soul star Linda Lewis, that Top of the Pops regular, whose great voice and catchy tunes never fail to wow both young and old alike.
Sandown Illuminated Carnival As the nights begin to draw in, this evening event features dozens of brightly-lit floats and hundreds of costumes and is the perfect end to the summer season. Taking place at the end of August, Sandown Illuminated Carnival really shouldn't be missed! Fun for all ages.
Tableux should report to control point at the bottom of East Hill road. www.rydecarnival.org.uk
