One of the oldest vineyards in Britain, Adgestone is set on a south facing slope in ten acres of outstanding natural beauty overlooked by Brading Down, just half a mile from the Roman Villa
The Romans, it is believed, planted their vines on this site. It would be nice to think that Roman Gentry at their bacchanalian feasts drank wine grown on these same slopes some 2000 years ago
We produce high quality award winning wines and in 1994 our wine was chosen for the dinner for H.M. Queen to celebrate the Anniversary of the D-Day Landings |
VINEYARD This area of vineyard, first planted in 1968 is on a chalky soil on a south facing slope, in an ideal climate which is frost free
WINERY The Winery Cellars have been purpose made and are one of the few such in the UK, providing ideal conditions for wine making. The temperature in the Cellars is perfect for natural processing of the wine - minimising the need for chemical additives. Tours of our cellars are very popular, discussing wine making through to bottling, with a generous tasting of all our wines afterwards!
