Our 7 charming individually designed cottages are steeped in history. They started life as stables and a carriage house for Upper Chine House built in 1874 by Mr G.F. Coster, head of the London branch of a famous Amsterdam diamond-cutting family. In 1914, the house opened as a boarding school and they became the kitchens and dining hall for Upper Chine girls boarding school. The school was very successful with girls from 13 nations attending.
During the second World War, the school was requisitioned by the Army. The school moved to the mainland but returned in 1945 where it once again became a very important part of Shanklin life.

The cottages have been converted and restored and now offer excellent holiday accommodation.

The Hideaway

Is a lovely cosy cottage for romantic couples and honeymooners. Four poster bed with ensuite shower room. Flowers and bubbly on arrival. Adjacent to theChine with garden views.


Mallards View
Sleeps 4 with one double room and one twin room with an open plan kitchen/diner/lounge and a shower room. In a courtyard setting with raised decked patio area.

Robins Rest

Sleeps 4 in one double bedroom( with four poster bed) and one twin bedroom.It has a bathroom with shower attachment and a very spacious kitchen diner and lounge. It also has a decked patio area.

Owls Hoot

Also with Four poster bed, sleeps 3 + cot in one double room and one with a single bed. Bathroom with corner bath and shower attachment. Courtyard setting with raised decked patio.


Squirrels Drey

Sleeps 4 in a double room with balcony overlooking the gardens and a twin room. Shower room. Patio also facing the gardens.

Foxes Den

Sleeps 5+1 in one double, one twin with ensuite shower and a single room with roll out under bed. It has a very spacious kitchen/diner with a washing machine and dishwasher, a lounge and a downstairs bathroom with shower attachment. Large patio overlooking the gardens.



Badgers Set

Sleeps 5 with one double, one twin and a single bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment. Farmhouse style country kitchen with a washing machine and dishwasher. A new separate toilet has been added downstairs. Large lounge facing the garden with large patio.

Tariff fully inclusive of VAT Electricity, Gas central heating, bed linen & towels, (except pool towels), beds made up for your arrival. Ground floor apartments suitable for wheelchairs.

Cot & highchair available in all units.

Accomodation available from 3pm on day of arrival and to be vacated by 10am on day of departure. Thank you.

A provisional booking will only be held for 14 days.A deposit of £100 per week is required.The balance to be paid one month in advance please.
