Founded in 1973 by designer and Master Glassmaker Michael Harris, Isle of Wight Studio Glass is recognised internationally for highly imaginative and innovative approaches to glass design. Outstanding skills, and the exploration of new designs and techniques, are being continuously developed and this has kept the studio at the forefront of decorative studio glass worldwide. The impact of Isle of Wight Studio Glass on the world’s studio glass movement cannot be overstated and many galleries, museums and major retail outlets around the world stand testament to this fact. The work that is produced by Isle of Wight Studio Glass emanates from the design genius of it’s British founder ~ Michael Harris. This studio of world renown was started by Michael after leaving his original studio of Mdina Glass set up on Malta in 1968. The work and designs of this important studio are now being appreciated increasingly by discerning glass lovers as a most desirable and collectable investment as well as an object of beauty and a joy to own. Today the company continues to prosper under the direction of the Harris family and its output of innovative design finishes and techniques is prodigious. These traditions are still being followed and continuously developed by Timothy Harris, the founders eldest son who is recognised internationally and as one of the country’s leading and most accomplished studio glass designers and makers. . |
