Northcourt is the largest private house on the Isle of Wight dating from the 15th century. The main wing of the house was built in 1615 by Sir John Leigh in 1615, extended by Lord Burgh in 1905. Northcourt is in a beautiful village setting beneath the downs, and offers a garden of exceptional variety and beauty. The garden opens often for charity and the house hosts concerts, and other artistic events.Northcourt is ideal for those loving the unspoilt countryside, and rural walks in a heritage building, furnished in a traditional way. The East wing offers bed and breakfast in four diamond accommodation, and contains the principle reception rooms in the house, including the library with snooker table. The West wing has been refurbished in 2010 and can accomodate 12, with 6 new bathrooms. It is suitable for taking dogs ( but not allowed upstairs) All wings have the use of the paddock for games, the grass tennis court at times and the ability to walk around the extensive gardens, but each wing has an allocated private garden area. |
