Keats Cottage

Jill and Glenn would like to welcome you to Keats Cottage bed & breakfast. We are a small, friendly establishment with four en-suite rooms. We are open all year and welcome walkers, cyclists, well behaved dogs and festival goers. We have one charge per person all year irrespective of bank holidays and seasons. We welcome children but, only have limited accommodation suitable for under 12's due to the buildings construction.

We are located at the top of the old village, within easy walking distance of the beach, major cliff and downs walks, the theatre and the old village. The modern town of Shanklin and the station and also in walking distance. Being on the high street, we have excellent bus links to the rest of the island. Shanklin has numerous excellent restaurants and cafes to suit every ones taste and purse and offers some good live music in the various bars and hotels. The theatre offers several different shows during the week at reasonable prices.

The poet John Keats stayed and wrote here when it was called "Eglantine cottage" in the summer of 1819. We have also played host to the landscape artist George Morland in 1789 and various other artisans. The Keats Room is in the oldest part of the building where he stayed and wrote and is one of our letting rooms, though more luxuriously furnished than in Keats time.

All our rooms are en-suite and have a T.V and welcome tray. We do not have a car park but, parking is readily available in the surrounding area. We do charge a cleaning deposit for dogs of £15 this is refundable at the end of your stay providing no permanent damage is evident or major cleaning of the room is required.

We are an old listed building over three floors and as such we are unfortunately not suitable for some disabled people or for people with walking and mobility difficulties.

We will happily cater for vegan, and special diets if notice is given.
