History

The rear part of Keats Cottage encompasses the historic Eglantine Cottage. It was here in the late 1700’s & early 1800’s that the legendary Mrs Williams played host to John Keats, the famous romantic poet, George Morland, the artist and Thomas Morton, dramatist. They came to the island to experience and be inspired by the wonderful scenery and unspoilt landscape.

Location

Located on the High Street at the top of the Old Village it is within walking distance of all the local shops, pubs and restaurants. The Theatre, offering critically acclaimed shows is 2 minutes walk.

Shanklin's blue flag beach with all its attractions is 5 minutes away. We are an ideal base for walking holidays with the Downs and round Island cliff path walk within easy reach.

Keats Cottage is rated by the A.A. as Four Star Guest Accommodation with an extra Quality symbol being awarded for food.

Keats Cottage is rated Five Stars for Food Safety and Hygiene by the Isle of Wight Environmental Heath.


Accommodation

Keats Cottage is an authentic historic building with stairs to all rooms and so is not suitable for some disabled people or persons who have difficulty negotiating stairs. If you have concerns please enquire before booking.


* We do not cater for children under the age of 14yrs.

* We do not accept pets, guide dogs are permitted.

* We do not cater for hen or stag parties.

* Walkers and cyclists are welcome. We also welcome bike groups.

* We are open all year round.

* We are totally non smoking throughout, this includes all guest rooms.

* Special dietary requirements can be catered for if advanced notice is given.


The Restaurant

Our fully licensed bistro has a rapidly building reputation for excellent food and fine wines. These are all served in warm welcoming surroundings by charming and sociable staff who will always make you feel at ease. Special diets can be catered for if notice is given.
