Situated on the Military Road (Coast Road A3055) near the village of Brighstone on the South-West coast of the Isle of Wight. Dinosaur Farm Museum is the oldest dinosaur museum on the Island. Established in 1993 after the discovery of a Brachiosaur-like dinosaur we call the Barnes High Sauropod; the museum has gone from a lowly cattle shed, to three renovated rooms for display.
The museum is staffed primarily by volunteers who clean the dinosaur bones found on the Isle of Wight\'s beaches, along the south-west coast and Yaverland. We pride ourselves on a friendly family atmosphere, and interaction with our knowledgable staff. |
Dinosaur Farm Museum is popular with children as well as adults. Our children\'s activities include 3D dinosaur jigsaws, a fossil sandpit and dinosaur rubbings. The museum has a variety of different fossils with many on display to the public for the first time. As more fossils are discovered all the time you can be sure that there will always be something new to see at Dinosaur Farm Museum. We have a FREE Fossil Identification Service so please bring your fossils to us for identification. In addition we have a reasonably priced Giftshop so you can purchase a memento of your visit. There is a large, FREE Car Park.
Dinosaur Farm Museum may not be as big as the Natural History Museum in London, but we think you will find enough of interest to while away several hours.
Guided Fossil Hunts are run from the museum throughout the year. Parties of upto 25 are guided on a local beach, where fossils are found. All our Fossil Hunts are fully insured and licenced. The guides are on hand to identify the fossils you find and point out things of interest. Due to demand all Fossil Hunts must be booked by a personal visit to the museum. |
