If you enjoy fishing then you should take advantage of our three lakes that are located a 150 yard stroll down the lane from the farm house.
Guests staying at Nettlecombe Farm can fish free of charge, and the lakes are open to the public at the charge of £4 per day.
There is ample car parking next to the lakes and toilet facilities are available. The lakes are open all year round from dawn to dusk.
These man made but now wholly naturalised lakes cover an area of 1.5 acres and are well-stocked with carp, roach and tench of various sizes. The largest recorded fish caught from these lakes was a 20lb carp caught by a 12 year old boy in 2000. Can you better this?
As well as being a peaceful place to pass the time and admire the beautiful scenery the lakes offer something to anglers of all abilities; good sport for the experienced angler and simply a chance to catch fish for the novice. As a matter of interest we have seen many different types of bait used over the years including sweet corn, bread, luncheon meat, and dog biscuits.

Two mature, well stocked coarse fishing lakes, as featured in Improve Your Coarse Fishing and Carp Talk, offering quality fishing for experts and beginners alike.
The small lake, around 1 acre, is a general coarse fishing lake containing a variety of species, including Roach, Rudd, Perch, Golden Tench, Mirror, Common and Crucian Carp. The carp are steadily growing with many between 8 and 15lb. The lake record is a 21lb 8oz mirror. Best methods include floater fishing in the summer months (but please be careful to keep an eye on the wildfowl), method feeders with pellets or boilies as hookbaits, and pole or waggler fishing with pellets, meat or cheese as hookbaits.Float fishing with a single maggot or caster on the drop will account for roach and perch, one a cast. Ideal for pleasure anglers and beginners.
The specimen lake is around 2 acres and is aimed towards the more serious Carp angler. This lake contains Mirror and Common Carp to over 30lbs, plus lots of 20lb plus fish. Roach, Rudd, Perch and Pike are also present. The current lake record is 34lb 4oz and there are around 80 fish over 20lb at present. The majority of fish are caught using boilies. Good quality frozen bait is best and is available on site from the fishery shop, along with pellets, prepared particles and a wide range of carp tackle. This lake would be classed as moderate to difficult, but hit it right and you could catch a biggun!
