Holliers,being the first and original Hotel in Shanklin, was originally a 17th Century Coaching Inn and still retains its original charm. When the Poet Longfellow stayed here in 1868 he found it “a lovely thatched-roofed hotel all covered with ivy, and extremely desirable......Our windows look down on the quaintest little village you ever saw. It is all like a scene on the Stage.
